LaLiga Santander: Philips becomes official supplier to Real Betis after club's stadium renovation

Philips Lighting España y Portugal, a subsidiary of the Dutch technology group Philips, has become an official supplier of the Estadio Benito Villamarín of Real Betis Balompié (LaLiga Santander) from 2017-18, announced both parties on 26/06/2017. The Sevilla-based club renovated their stadium, increasing its capacity from 51,700 to 60,720, for an estimated amount of €18m.

"The new lighting will maximise the fan experience and, at the same time, improve the energetic efficiency of the venue. Also, the pitch will meet all the requirements regarding the TV broadcasting, including 4k technology," said the club. "Eight of the VIP boxes in the stadium will be equipped with high standard modular lighting, with a design adapted for the space," added the club.

According to Philips and Real Betis, more than 65% of large sports stadiums and 55% of football stadiums around the world are equipped with Philips Lighting technologies, including 15 of the 19 largest Spanish stadiums.
