United Kingdom: 36% of fans watch at least one Premier League match per month via illegal streaming

36% of fans said they watched Premier League matches online via an unofficial broadcaster at least once a month, and 22% at least once a week, according to a survey carried out by Radio 5, the radio service of the British audiovisual group BBC, on 04/07/2017. The survey, carried out between 07 and 15/03/2017 by the ComRes institute from a group of 1,000 adults who declared, "they were regular viewers of the Premier League," indicated that 47% of the people interviewed watched at least one match via an unofficial broadcaster.

"Younger fans (aged 18-34) are considerably more likely than their older counterparts to say they stream live football matches online through an unofficial provider - 65% do so at least once a month compared to 33% of 35-54 year olds and 13% of those aged 55+," found the survey, while the Premier League TV audience figures fell by 14% over the 2016-17 season (see below).
