Switzerland: SRG SSR extends broadcast rights to the European cups for the 2018-2021 period

The Swiss public broadcaster SRG SSR has extended (in a limited package) its broadcast rights, valid for Switzerland, to the European cups for the 2018-2021 period, announced the Swiss public broadcasting corporation on 06/07/2017. The deal was made via Team Marketing, the agency mandated by UEFA for these activities. These broadcast rights are valid for TV and digital platforms, and also includes the possibility of broadcasting certain matches on a delayed basis.

"Local subsidiaries SRF, RTS, and RSI (depending on the language) will broadcast one UEFA Champions League game on Wednesday evenings and one Europa League game per matchday, if possible one of a Swiss team. The fans can also find the highlights of all matches on the SSR channels," said the Swiss public group.

SRG SSR has been the broadcaster of the European cups in Switzerland since 1994, but the pay-TV channel Teleclub will hold the full broadcasting rights, in Switzerland, to the Champions League and the Europa League for the 2018-2021 cycle, thanks to the acquisition of these rights by its parent company, CT Cinetrade…
