The 83 members of the IOC unanimously voted for the simultaneous awarding of the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024 and 2028, announced the ICO at the meeting in Lausanne (SUI), on 11/07/2017.

Pending final tripartite ratification of this agreement, this simultaneous awarding could be made in Lima (PER), on 13/09/2017, with the two candidate cities: Paris (FRA) and Los Angeles (USA).

Both cities will be invited to agree with the IOC at the 130th session in Peru. Should an agreement be reached, the IOC session will only have to validate it on 13/09/2017.

"Should such tripartite agreement not be reached, the 131st IOC Session will proceed with the election of the host city 2014 in accordance with the current election procedure," added the IOC.
