Formula 1: the Twitter and Facebook communities of the drivers (July 2017)

The 18 drivers of the 2017 Formula 1 World Championship, who have an official Twitter account as of 01/07/2017, have a cumulative 14.7 million followers on the social network, as of the same date (two drivers, the German Sebastian Vettel and the Finn Kimi Räikkönen, do not have an official account).

This represents an average of 817,383 followers per driver. The 18 drivers gained a cumulative 156,982 followers during the month of June 2017 (+1.1%). Figures continue to rise after a gain of 508,972 followers in May 2017 (+3.6%).

The Briton Lewis Hamilton (4.5 million followers) and the Spaniard Fernando Alonso (2.6 million) are the two drivers with the most Twitter followers as of 01/07/2017. Between the two, they comprise almost half (49%) of the Twitter follower base of the 18 drivers with an official Twitter account in the 2017 Formula 1 World Championship.
