306.5 million TV viewers in Italy watched the 2016-17 edition of Serie A TIM (on Mediaset Premium and Sky Italia channels); 174.98 million TV viewers watched the 2016-17 LaLiga Santander (on Mediapro, beIN Media Group, and Telefonica channels); 111.89 million subscribers watched the 2016-17 Bundesliga (on Sky Deutschland channels); and 94.972 million subscribers watched the 2016-17 Premier League (on Sky and BT Sport channels). This represented a cumulative total of at least 688.34 million viewers for four of the first divisions of the European Top 5 leagues. The French LFP reported that it drew 155 million viewers in 2015-16, but did not release its 2016-17 audience figures of the pay-TV groups beIN Sports France and Canal+, the broadcast rights holders to Ligue 1 in France.

During the 2016-17 season, the audience for a LaLiga Santander match was 476,777 viewers on average (out of known audience figures for 367 of the 380 games). In the UK, the average TV audience for 106 of the 126 Premier League games of the 2016-17 season broadcast on the Sky Sports 1 pay-TV channel reached…
