Liga: FC Barcelona announced a €509m budget for 2013/14, the first time over €500m

FC Barcelona's (Liga, ESP) annual budget for the 2013/14 season will be €509m, announced the secretary and spokesman for the board, Toni Freixa, on the 17/09/2013. This is the first time that the budget of Barça has been over €500m.

"But this is not a message of triumph. It will still be difficult to manage the club and we have to continue with our austerity policies," said Toni Freixa.

For 2013/14, the board predicts a €36m surplus after tax. The economic proposal will be presented at the next ordinary general assembly on the 05/10/2013, to be approved by delegate members. Informative meetings will be held on the 02 and 03/10/2013 in the presence of the directors of the club.

For the 2012/13 season, the operating income reached €491m or €21 million more than originally budgeted (€470m). The club explained the additional income had come from sponsorship contracts and the transfer of Thiago Alcantara to Bayern Munich for €25m, on the 14/07/2013.

Real Madrid announced on the 06/09/2013, a net revenue of €520.9m in 2012/13, or a 1.3% increase compared to the 2011/12 season (514 M €).
