Spain: Mediapro and beIN Media Group acquire TV rights to the 2018-2021 European cups (official)

The Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro and the pay-TV group beIN Media Group have acquired, from UEFA and valid in Spain, the exclusive broadcast rights to the European cups for the 2018-2021 period, on 19/07/2017. The amount of the agreement will be €1.1bn for the period (€366m per season) according to Spanish media, including between €230m and €250m per season for the Champions League alone.

The matches will be broadcast on the pay-TV channels of beIN Sports España, a joint venture launched by Mediapro and beIN Media Group (see below).

• 2015-2018 Champions League: Atresmedia, Mediapro, and TV3 acquired the audiovisual rights, for Spain, to the Champions League for the 2015-2018 period, on 24/09/2014. The rights cover all broadcasting platforms (television, internet, and mobile). The total amount paid by the three groups is estimated at more than €135m per season (more than €100m for beIN Sports España, €30m for Atresmedia, and €5m for TV3), a price similar to that paid during the 2012-2015 period by the public TVE and TV3 television groups and by the pay-TV group Canal+ España…
