Leaders Beijing: "Sports must represent 5% of Chinese GDP by 2025" (Arthur Wei, Sina Sports)

"Beginning in 1984, the reform and the open door policy launched China's transformation, making it the second-largest economy in the world 30 years later. In October 2014, article 46 of the the State Council set the foundations of the Chinese sports industry and set the targets to be met by 2025: sports must represent 5% of GDP and 50 trillion yuan of annual turnover. This means the acquisitions of players, purchase of media and digital rights, and investing in infrastructure," said Arthur Wei, the CEO of Sina Sports, as part of the first edition of the "Leaders Sport Business Summit" conference series held in China, in Beijing on 21/07/2017.

The leader of the Chinese digital media company opened the day with an address entitled "Content & Community: A Match Made in Digital", in the form of a presentation of the Chinese media landscape and its evolution which explained how content has acted as a focal point and catalyst for organic communities on home-grown digital platforms.
