China: Wuhan DDMC Culture Co acquire Super Sports Media, TV rights holder to the Premier League

The Chinese multinational sports and entertainment company Wuhan DDMC Culture Co has reached an agreement for the acquisition of Super Sports Media on 12/07/2017. The amount of the acquisition of Super Sports Media by DDMC is $500m (€427.6m at 26/07/2017).

Super Sports Media Group holds the broadcast rights of the Premier League, in China and Macao, until 2018-19. PPTV (Suning Group), a Chinese internet and mobile streaming platform, has acquired the TV rights of the Premier League, valid for China, for the 2019-2022 period, on 17/11/2016. Suning and DDMC announced the creation of a joint venture around sport on 06/06/2017.

DDMC is the parent company of the Chinese sports marketing agency Desports. Businessman Jiang Lizhang, CEO of Desports, created the organisation Link International Sports Limited to proceed with the purchase of Granada CF (LaLiga Santander) on 14/06/2016. Desports is waiting for the green light from the Chinese government to buy 60% of the club - Parma FC (Serie B ConTe.it) reported the Italian media on 07/07/2017.
