2017 Tour de France: 785,000 viewers on average on Eurosport in 10 European countries (+10%)

The 2017 Tour de France (from 1 to 23/07/2017), won by Britain's Christopher Froome (Sky), drew, during the 21 stages, 785,000 viewers on average on Eurosport 1 in 10 European countries, announced the parent company Discovery Communications on 25/07/2017. This represented a 10% increase compared to the 2016 edition. "Across the 10 countries, viewers watched a total of 3.8 billion minutes (+45% versus 2016) of a thrilling Tour de France," added the international broadcaster.

The strongest growth in terms of average audience was in Norway, with an increase of 411% compared to the 2016 edition, ahead of Germany (+37%), Spain (+32%), Italy (+17%), Denmark (+8%), and Romania (+6%). The 2017 edition of the Tour de France was the most watched in Romania and Spain since 2009, the edition won by the Spaniard Alberto Contador.

Stage 13 between Saint-Girons and Foix, won by Frenchman Warren Barguil, recorded the best audience of the 2017 edition and became the most watched stage of the Tour de France since 2013 with 1.2 million viewers on average on Eurosport 1, from 13:00 CET, on 14/07/2017.
