Facebook: 246.1 million fans in total for the 20 Premier League clubs (August 2017)

The 20 clubs in the 2017-18 Premier League have a cumulative 246.1 million fans on the social network Facebook, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/08/2017. This total makes the Premier League the most popular European Top 5 league on Facebook, with an average of 12.3 million fans per club.

Manchester United FC are the most followed English club, with 73.85 million fans. The club drew 175,252 new fans (+0.2%) in July 2017, while West Ham United FC posted the best percentage growth (+9.4%). Huddersfield Town AFC continued to increase, but at a slower pace in July 2017 (+4%) than the previous month. The promoted club ranks last in number of fans in August, behind Brighton & Hove Albion FC.

Chelsea FC, the reigning Premier League champions, are the second most followed Premier League club on Facebook with 48 million fans. Fourteen clubs in the English top division have more than one million fans, a record mark in the Top 5 leagues. No Premier League club recorded a decrease in its number of fans in July 2017.
