"The proposal among the IOC and the Bid Committee for Los Angeles, together with Paris' candidacy for 2024, creates a win-win-win scenario for the cities, for fans across the globe and for the Olympic Games. We take this opportunity to commend both cities on their world-class bids and the IOC for its vision in seeking more winners in this process," said David Zaslav, the president and CEO of Discovery Communications, on 01/08/2017.

The American audiovisual group acquired the exclusive broadcast rights to the Olympic Games, valid in Europe, for €1.3bn for the 2018-2024 period on 29/06/2015 (see below).

"We are truly convinced that in August, under the auspices of the IOC, a tripartite agreement will be reached with Los Angeles and Paris to achieve a triple-win situation for the three parties.
