Facebook: 233.64 million fans in total for the 20 LaLiga Santander clubs (August 2017)

The 20 clubs in the 2017-18 LaLiga Santander have a cumulative 233.64 million fans on the social network Facebook, according to the data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/08/2017. This total makes LaLiga Santander the second most popular Top 5 league on Facebook, behind the Premier League, with an average of 11.68 million fans per club.

Real Madrid CF, the defending Spanish champion and winner of the 2016-17 Champions League, are the most followed Spanish club, with 104.83 million fans, up 212,899 (+0.2%) compared to the beginning of July 2017 (+1.5 million fans, +1.5% in June 2017). FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF together count 207.91 million fans, or 89% of the total of all LaLiga Santander clubs, and more than the 58 clubs of the Serie A TIM, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 combined. FC Barcelona are the Spanish club which recorded the biggest increase in its number of fans in July 2017 (+438,299 fans).

At 2.6% (from 62,743 to 64,356), newly promoted Girona FC are the LaLiga Santander club which posted the highest percentage growth rate on Facebook for the second consecutive month…
