Twitter: 56.8 million followers in total for the 20 Premier League clubs (August 2017)

The 20 clubs in the 2017-18 Premier League have a cumulative 56.8 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to data recorded by News Tank Football on 02/08/2017. The Premier League ranks second in the European Top 5 leagues, behind LaLiga Santander, with 2.84 million followers on average per club.

Manchester United FC, the most popular English club with 12.5 million followers, recorded the biggest increase (+7.4%) since the beginning of July 2017 (+857,650 followers). Five Premier League clubs -- Arsenal FC (2^nd, 10.65 million), Chelsea FC (3^rd, 9.27 million), Liverpool FC (4^th, 7.92 million) and Manchester City FC (5^th, 4.57 million) -- all top the 4 million mark in Twitter followers.

In all, the 20 2017-18 Premier League clubs have drawn 2,635,607 new followers since July 2017, more than the 58 clubs in Ligue 1 Conforama, the Serie A Tim, and the Bundesliga combined (1,882,963). The Premier League recorded an average increase of 131,780 followers per club in July.
