Twitter: 56.86 million followers in total for the 20 LaLiga Santander clubs (August 2017)

The 20 clubs in the 2017-18 LaLiga Santander have a cumulative total of 56.86 million followers on the social network Twitter, according to the data recorded by News Tank Football on 02/08/2017. This result makes LaLiga Santander the most popular European Top 5 league on Twitter, with an average of 2.84 million followers per club.

Real Madrid CF are the most followed LaLiga Santander club, with 24.68 million followers, up 587,156 (+2.4%) since the beginning of July 2017. The Madrid club is the one in Europe which counts the most subscribers on its main Twitter account. FC Barcelona are the only club in the Top 5 leagues whose main account (the one that has the most followers) is not the one in its national language, since Barça has more followers on its English account (22.38 million) than in Spanish (11.45 million) or Catalan (5.5 million).
