Serie A TIM: Lega Serie A has the green light from IFAB to use video assistant referees

The process of definitive authorisation to use video assistant referees for the entirety of the 2017-18 Serie A TIM season has been confirmed by the IFAB at a meeting with the Italian Football Federation, in Rome (ITA) on 02/08/2017.

"We will start at the beginning of the 2017-18 championship," said Carlo Tavecchio, president of FIGC and special commissioner in charge of administering the Lega Serie A, after the General Assembly of the League organised in Milan (ITA) on 10/06/2017.

During the Rome meeting, in which Lukas Brud, secretary of the International Board, David Elleray, technical director of the international forum, Carlo Tavecchio, and FIGC managing director Michele Uva all checked the parameters prescribed for the Italian experiment, said Lega Serie A on 03/08/2017.

IFAB leaders met Roberto Rosetti and Nicola Rizzoli, project manager and referee instructor for video support, as well as Marco Brunelli, CEO of Lega Serie A, who presented the results of the tests made in Italy during the 2016-17 season.
