Portsmouth FC: the club promoted to Sky Bet League One bought by Michael D. Eisner (ex-Walt Disney)

Tornante Company, an investment fund specialising in media and entertainment, and owned by the American Michael D. Eisner, 75 years old, former president and CEO of the Walt Disney Company (1984-2005), has acquired 100% of Portsmouth Football Club (Sky Bet League One, English third division), on 03/08/2017.

The transaction amounted to £5.67m (€6.2m) plus £10m (€11m) in additional investments. Shares were purchased from the Portsmouth Supporters Society Limited, commonly referred to as "Pompey Supporters Trust (PST)", the majority shareholder of the club, with 48.48% of the shares, and also the totality of the shares of the other 16 individual shareholders.

PST had taken over Portsmouth FC on 10/04/2013, before the club went into judicial liquidation. The club had twice been under judicial administration in February 2010, and then again in February 2012. Portsmouth, the 2016-17 Sky Bet League Two (English fourth division) champions, will play in the Sky Bet League One in 2017-18.
