Serie A TIM: Atalanta becomes owner of the Stadio Atleti Azzurri in Bergamo for €8.6m

"The contract that establishes the transfer of ownership of the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia (26,562 capacity) from the City of Bergamo to the Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio (Serie A TIM) was signed this morning," announced the club 08/08/2017.

A plan to renovate the stadium, originally built in 1928, must be presented within six months, according to the City of Bergamo, adding that the Atalanta has spent €8.6m to become the owner of its compound.

"The stadium of Bergamo has always been the home of Atalanta and its tifosi (cupporters), and it is a great satisfaction to finally become the owner. This is a key step for the present and the future of our club, and we will make a big investment to make the stadium more modern and welcoming for our fans," said Antonio Percassi, president of Atalanta BC.
