ECA: K-H Rummenigge will not stand for chairmanship, his successor to be elected on 05/09/2017

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, 61 years old, the chairman of the ECA, will not be a candidate in the election for the next term of the post scheduled for Tuesday, 05/09/2017 in Geneva (SUI), announced the European Club Association in Madrid (ESP) on 10/08/2017.

"Following intense, successful, and good years I believe the time has come to pass on the responsibility. I have always believed this office should only be held for a limited amount of time. My withdrawal from office expresses my sincerity concerning this issue," stated the German director.

The chairman of the board of directors of FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga), the former German international Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has been the chairman of the ECA since its creation on 21/01/2008. He was re-elected on three occasions. The ECA, which initially numbered 137 clubs, now includes 220, from 53 of the 55 national federations which comprise the UEFA confederation.
