UEFA: regulatory changes of the participation rules for the 2015/16 Europa League

The UEFA club competitions committee should change the rules of participation in the Europa League, said UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) at the end of its executive committee, held on the 19 and 20/09/2013 in Dubrovnik (Croatia).

These regulatory changes intend to replace, in the Europa League, the losing finalist of the national cup by the best-placed non-qualified domestic championship club, from the 2015/16 season, as the Cup winner qualifies for the Champions League through the domestic championship.

UEFA's executive committee also approved the access list of the 2014/15 club competitions access list. One spot in both the Champions League and the Europa League will be granted for Gibraltar, UEFA's 54th federation, member since May 2013.

The meeting of the European body was also the occasion to present the 20/09/2013, the list of the 32 member associations of UEFA candidates to host matches of the 2020 Euro, to be held in 13 cities from 13 European countries.
