Bundesliga: €188m in revenue for the 2017-18 clubs from their main shirt sponsors

The 18 Bundesliga clubs will receive a minimum of €187.7m in revenue from their main shirt sponsorship contracts in the 2017-18 season, which began on 18/08/2017. This is nearly €6m more (+3.1%) than for the 2016-17 season (Nielsen Sports data).

The six clubs that receive the most revenue from their main shirt sponsor (in descending order: FC Bayern Munich, VfL Wolfsburg, FC Schalke 04, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and VfB Stuttgart) comprise 65.3%) of the total of the entire first division.

Only one single new collaboration started in 2017-18; that of the American job search platform Indeed with the Eintracht Frankfurt. The longest-running collaboration is the one which connectsWolfsburg to its ownership group Volkswagen; the logo of the German car manufacturer has been displayed on the front of the club's shirt since 1985-86.

Four contracts are scheduled to end at the conclusion of the 2017-18 season: those of Rewe (retail/supermarkets) with 1. FC Köln; bet-at-home.com (sports betting) with Hertha BSC; Kömmerling (windows and shutters) with 1.FSV Mainz 05; and WWK (insurance…
