MLS: Tim Bezbatchenko general manager of Toronto FC

Tim Bezbatchenko has been appointed general manager of the MLS (Major League Soccer, North American Professional Football League) franchise Toronto FC, the Canadian club announced on the 20/09/2013.

He takes over Kevin Payne, who had been both president and general manager of the club since November 2012 and will work with Tim Leiweke, president and CEO of Mapple Leafs Sports & Entertainment, the holding company which owns the club, and Ryan Nelsen, Toronto FC coach since the 08/01/2013 and confirmed until 2014.

"Tim Bezbatchenko perfectly addresses what Toronto FC need. Tim brings an analytical mind to the job along with the best understanding that I’ve seen of the salary cap and how to manage it. He knows how to build a team that will win long-term and he believes, like we do, that his vision will have an immediate and positive impact on this team," said Tim Leiweke on the 20/09/2013.

Tim Bezbatchenko is leaving his position as senior director of player relations and competition. He held the position since August 2010.
