Twitter: Top 100 European clubs with the most followers (January 2017)

With 37.19 million subscribers, FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) are the most followed European football club on Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football, which features a Top 100 list of European clubs (first division only) most popular on this social network as of 02/01/2017.

The data used by News Tank Football in the Top 100 include followers to a club's main Twitter account, but also the additional accounts in other languages. For example, Barcelona have fewer followers on its main account than Real Madrid CF, who are ranked second overall, but the Catalan club is ahead thanks to a higher number of followers on other accounts.

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF (2^nd, 34.81 million) dominate the top of the European Top 100 ranking. In aggregate, the two Spanish clubs have, in fact, more followers than the cumulative total of the next 11 European clubs who follow in the ranking.

Among the 10 most followed on Twitter clubs, Liverpool FC are the club which posted the best percentage growth, as its number of followers increased of 3.9% during the last month of 2016. In…
