Twitter: Top 100 European clubs with the most followers (February 2017)

With 37.90 million followers, FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) are the most followed European club on Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football, which features a Top 100 list of the European clubs (first division only) on this social network as of 01/02/2017.

The data used by News Tank Football in the Top 100 include followers to a club's primary Twitter account, but also followers to additional accounts in other languages. For example, Barcelona totals fewer followers on its primary account than Real Madrid CF, ranked second overall, but the Catalan club is ahead thanks to a higher number of followers on other accounts.

Barcelona and Real Madrid (2nd, 35.59 million followers) dominate the top of the European ranking. Together, the two Spanish clubs have, in fact, more followers than the combined total of the next 11 European clubs in the ranking.

Among the 10 most followed clubs on Twitter, Liverpool FC (Premier League) posted the best percentage growth rate over the last month, seeing its number of followers increase by 4.9% since January 2017.
