The 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony, co-organised by France Football (Amaury Group) and UEFA Union of European Football Associations , will take place in London (England) for the first time on Monday 26 October 2026, the organisers announced on 28 May 2026.

The decision was made as a tribute to England international Stanley Matthews, the first winner of the award in 1956. However, this will not be the first edition organised outside France (where the trophy was created by France Football), as the six editions held between 2010 and 2015 took place in Zurich (Switzerland), at a time when FIFA Fédération Internationale de Football Association co-organised the event.

"By staging its 70th edition in the British capital, the Ballon d’Or continues its expansion and further strengthens its status as a globally prestigious brand," France Football and UEFA UEFA: Union of European Football AssociationsFounded: 15/06/1954Headquarters: Nyon (Switzerland)Member Associations: 55 Turnover 2023-24: €6,776.6m - media rights: €4,957m (73.1%) - commercial… said.

  • "In 2025, the Ballon d’Or ceremony generated 4.7 billion engagements on social media, up 40% compared with the 2024 edition, and was broadcast in 105 countries," the organisers added.
    • UEFA has co-organised the ceremony with France Football since 2024.
