will soon obtain a long-term license for the European basketball competition.
This is an opportunity for the Lyon-based entrepreneur to recall the latest advances in the arena project, which is expected to come into operation in the second half of 2023: "The Metropolitan Council's vote to modify the PLU-H (local urban planning and housing plan) was passed (on 15/12/2020) by a large majority following a long and very serious public enquiry, which enabled us to adapt the project to make it more modern and more socially responsible. It is an ambitious project with a budget of around €140m. We are going to make the most beautiful Arena in France in terms of sports and events."
This new infrastructure will be located close to the Groupama Stadium, within OL Vallée (sporting campus), whose new 23,250 m2 leisure centre (17 sports, entertainment, culture and catering brands) will be inaugurated in February 2021.
February 2021 will also be the time for OL Groupe to present its financial results for the first half of the 2020-21 financial year. The figures for these first six months will inevitably be impacted by the Covid-19 crisis, which is currently preventing the return of spectators to stadiums. To make matters worse, the pandemic is compounded in France by the Ligue 1 TV rights crisis.

It was not at all directed against Canal+, the most important historical broadcaster of French football.
